Happy New Year of the Tiger 2010

Here we are again spending CNY in Miri. Well, we so proudly bought tickets about 10mths ago to be home this year for CNY but then Fate decided to intervene and gave me a big belly instead. Hmm…

It has been a rather quiet long weekend for us. I have been working for a few hours at home each day trying to clear off work before I go off for my long leave (I cannot wait!! I cannot wait!! I cannot wait!!!!) and Hubby been catching up on his baby reading (I made him at least read my book on breastfeeding just so he will know what to expect and how to support me :P).

Anywaaaaay….here’s wishing everyone Gong Xi Fa Cai for the year of the Tiger. May you be blessed with a prosperous new beginning! Roar!

Ushering in the New Year

Ah…so swiftly the days go by. I just posted a Christmas wish and *blink blink* now it is time for a New Year greeting pulak!

So what is a pregnant woman to do on new year’s eve? Partying has its restrictions obviously…I have to avoid smoke-choked places, which is literally anywhere fun and crowded tonight. Which leaves the not-so-happening places. Hubby and I decided to just go out and do something together…so we are going to take-away the best fried chicken wings in town (only sold outside a dodgy looking bar at night, mind you!) and camp out at a local cafe. We will be silly and do people watching while sipping tall frosty glasses of iced milo in between delicious sinful bites of fried chicken wings.

Simply silly fun…

Happy New Year everyone!

Book Review: The Story of Edgar Sawtelle

This is not just about dogs.

But yes, I have to admit, because there are dogs involved, I did not think twice to try to get my hands on this book. I mean, I cried bucketloads reading Marley & Me, while sunbathing in my bikini by a resort poolside – much to the curiosity of other couples on a romantic beach resort. But hey, you too would shed a tear or two (or many many more) if your favorite dog character could not walk anymore? Right? Right? RIGHT ?!

While watching a random (backdated) episode of Oprah, this book was being show-cased. Oprah raved about it. Her fans did. So did Stephen King. So I had to get it !

I shall be reading this over the weekend, and throughout my Australia break next week.  I just KNOW it is going to be a great unforgettable book!

Michael Jackson (August 29, 1958 – June 25, 2009)

Those like myself, who grew up in the seventies and eighties, probably grew up listening to chart toppers like ‘Beat It’ and ‘Thriller’. Sung by who else, but the legendary Michael Jackson. Well, he’s been around for as long as I could recall, since memories started forming in my head. Michael Jackson passed away yesterday, and made headlines worldwide.

Taken from the Daily Telegraph online:

MICHAEL Jackson has died after suffering what is believed to have been a cardiac arrest in Los Angeles.

The singer, 50, was pronounced dead soon after he arrived at an LA hospital.

The LA Coroner has confirmed his death.

Lieutenant Fred Corral told CNN Jackson was pronounced dead at 2:26pm (7.26am) local time after reportedly suffering a cardiac arrest, but not a heart attack.

“I can tell you at this time that we were notified by West Los Angeles Police Department detectives that Mr Jackson was transported … to the hospital, and upon admitting, he was unresponsive and was pronounced dead at approximately 2:26 this afternoon,” Corral told CNN.

Whatever it is that he’d been up to, good or bad, the world will always remember MJ as the ‘King of Pop’.

Rest in Peace……
