Herb Garden

I am so pleased with my herb stash today. Went by a friend’s house to pick up a basil plant, but in the end came back with lemongrass, sireh, ulam raja, green tea, kesum and 3 types of chillies. All of which will come in handy during the post-natal period later. Splendid. Not to mention, in a few weeks’ time after they’ve grown nice and well, I can pretty much walk to our backyard and pluck herbs for cooking…anytime.

Geez…this is what living in a small town with too much time on your hands do to you…you get excited over mundane stuff like this…. will snap a pic later when they’ve grown a little 🙂

My latest 'revision' of the arrangement outside. Flowers outside the window so even when we're stuck indoors, there's always something nice to look at just outside the window

And of course... my two lovely furries...always ready to spring out and thrash the garden

The Newbie

As usual, when Hubby is away I will always do or buy something new for the garden. Stumbled upon this chilli plant at the nursery. I think it is kinda cute…

And re-arranged some of the potted planst. I thought it is a good idea to place the two heliconias outside the slim windows… so when we are inside looking out, there is always something green, something blooming 🙂

All By Myself

Hubby is now in the Netherlands attending a 5-week course, while yours truly is home-sitting again.
June is going to be a very busy month at work, so at least I will have plenty to do for most of the days, and maybe weekends. Meanwhile, I suppose I can fill the quiet weekends reading and doing little bits of home stuff e.g. like throwing out 2-year old goodness-knows-what from the fridge. Sounds like a splendid idea. And the two dogs will always enjoy a few cuddles from time to time 🙂

Counting down the days till my mom and dad arrive in Miri to keep me company later this month….

My Orchid Plant Has Flowers!

I took the plunge into the unknown and scary realm of orchid planting six months ago. I saw how mom could keep hers alive with minimal care and I did some research on it for a while before buying my first plant. So I got myself some and kept my fingers crossed. Dad even made me a nice little orchid hanging corner beside our main door.At long last, one of them plants bloomed! There are now 3 sprays of purple flowers and 2 on the way. I am very happy!
